Learn how to make a Kawala from recycled materials.
The Kawala is a traditional Egyptian flute that dates back to ancient Egypt. It is a simple hollow cane flute blown at the end, with six finger holes. Yet it produces a uniquely rich sound with immense temperamental and harmonic possibilities. It is unique among other instruments in that it can produce both a scale and a glissando, allowing the musician to play any note and therefore any key, thus offering tonal flexibility.
In this workshop you will be introduced to the history and use of the kawala, learn how it is made, and be able to make and play your own instrument

Eine musikalische Zeitreise auf der Burg

In diesem Musikworkshop entdecken Kinder die faszinierende Welt der mittelalterlichen Musik und lernen Instrumente und Klänge kennen, die einst auf Burgen erklangen. Im Mittelpunkt steht eine geheimnisvolle Truhe vom Schloss Pettingen, die Schätze aus vergangenen Zeiten enthält – Notenblätter, Instrumente und Geschichten. Unter Anleitung der Musikpädagogin Martina Menichetti erkunden die Teilnehmer spielerisch Instrumente, Gesang, Tanz und das gemeinsame Musizieren. Dabei werden sie musikalisch gefördert und inspiriert, ihre Kreativität, Fantasie sowie ein Gefühl für Geschichte und kulturelles Erbe zu entwickeln.
